New shift, investment to create 17 Winchester Metals jobs
WINCHESTER — Winchester Metals, a materials distribution and processing facility in Frederick County, plans to expand its operations and workforce by adding a third shift and hiring another 17 people, president Josh Phelps said Thursday.
“It’s kind of a ripple effect,” Phelps said of the new jobs, which follow an $870,000 investment in a new “punch laser” machine. “Just because of the high volume we’re seeing.”
The new hires will bring the company to just more than 70 employees, Phelps said. The investment is the largest Winchester Metals has made in its 42-year history.
