 Mattress pad manufacturer to close Gastonia plant, lay off 60 workers

Florida-based Hollander Sleep Products is closing its mattress pad manufacturing plant in Gastonia this summer, a move that will result in the loss of 60 local jobs.

Following its acquisition earlier this month of Pacific Coast Feather Company, Hollander has concluded that the Gastonia facility “is no longer a viable manufacturing facility due to the combined capacity of the new corporation,” according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) notice filed with the N.C. Commerce Department this week.
