AM General announces more than 400 temporary layoffs at Mishawaka plant

MISHAWAKA — AM General announced that 435 workers will be temporarily laid off in early October because of the upcoming sale of its commercial assembly plant here, but they’ll eventually return to work for an electric vehicle company.

Layoffs “may extend six months or longer” until SF Motors takes over and staffs the plant, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification recently filed by AM General with the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
