More than 300 out of work as Progresso closes its doors in Vineland
VINELAND — A car driven by Marion Grandison was slowly coming down the driveway in front of the General Mills plant in Vineland. Inside, Grandison, an employee who worked almost nine years at the plant, would be exiting the property for the last time.
Grandison was one of more than 300 people who were let go after General Mills decided to close the plant, which made soups under the Progresso brand name. The plant officially closed its doors Tuesday, a little more than a year after employees received the news that the plant would close. The plant, located on Elmer Road in Vineland, used to produce soups under the Progresso name brand.
